Meet Jessica

Hi! I’m Jessica Sorensen, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker
(LCSW 108988). I am so glad you are here. I have provided social work services within the Sacramento and Placer County regions for five years. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Human Development from UC Davis. I then received my Master’s degree in Social Work with a specialization in Behavioral Health from Sacramento State University.
Before beginning my journey into private practice, I was a medical social worker. I worked in both Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento and Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Throughout my time in the hospital setting I worked with many patients and families going through challenging and vulnerable experiences, including terminal medical conditions, bereaved families, and mental health concerns. During the majority of my time in the medical setting, I worked with new parents in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), High Risk Maternity, and Maternal Newborn to provide support to parents for adjustment to infant’s illness, loss, mother’s hospitalization, difficulties with pregnancy, and support for perinatal mood disorders.
As a licensed clinical social worker, I offer therapy to support the treatment of perinatal mood disorders including anxiety, depression, infertility, trauma, illness, grief and loss. I have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Perinatal Mental Health, and utilize other evidenced-based modalities
including a trauma-informed approach and mindfulness techniques.
I also hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.
As a therapist, I honor the courage it takes to ask for help and recognize that each person has their own unique needs in their perinatal or parenting journey. I consider it a privilege to hold space for you and strive to provide a non-judgmental space where we can be curious about your experiences and how they inhibit your overall wellness. It is through collaboration, trust, and our therapeutic relationship that I will work with you to develop a personalized and evidence-based treatment plan to support you in the healing process and develop skills centered around your goals.
